New Publications in the Journal of Marine Ecology Progress Series

Meet Dr. Alejandro Buren –   Originally from Argentina, Dr. Buren has a Ph.D. in Cognitive and Behavioural Ecology from the Memorial University of Newfoundland.  Prior to joining Ecofish, Alejandro carried out research in the Northwest Atlantic and Patagonia marine ecosystems.  During his tenure as a Fisheries and Oceans Research Scientist he provided critical input to the science advice for the management of three of the most important stock in Canada’s east coast (northern cod, capelin, and harp seals)!

Congratulations Alejandro on not one, but TWO new publications in the Journal of Marine Ecology Progress Series!

The first publication, “The collapse and continued low productivity of a keystone forage fish species,” is coauthored by Hannah Murphy, Aaron Adamack, Gail Davoren, Mariano Koen-Alonso, William Montevecchi, Frances Mowbray, Pierre Pepin, Paul Regular, Dominque Rober, George Rose, Garry Stenson, and Divya Varkey.   The second publication titled, “Forecasting capelin Mallotus villosus biomass on the Newfoundland shelf,” is coauthored by Keith Lewis, Paul Regular, Frances Mowbray, and Hannah Murphy.

Congratulations once again!
